About Southern Region

Our History

The Southern Region of Iota Phi Theta® Fraternity, Inc. was officially established in 2001, branching off from the Gulf Coast Region to better serve the growing momentum in Arkansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, and Texas.

Brother Chris O’Banner was appointed as the first Regional Polaris, stepping into the role with a commitment to build something lasting. Under his leadership and those who followed, the Southern Region quickly became known for its energy, ambition, and progression.

Since its founding, the region has consistently worked to expand Iota’s footprint, chartering new chapters, and strengthening bonds across the South. That work hasn’t gone unnoticed. At the 29th International Conclave, the Southern Region was honored with the Region of the Year Award, a reflection of the drive, integrity, and brotherhood that turned vision into reality.

Past Regional Polari

Since 2001, the Southern Region has been guided by a distinguished line of Regional Polari. Each brought vision, leadership, and dedication to our brotherhood.
